The general conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints takes place twice a year, beginning the last weekend of September (for the women, young women and girls in the church) and continuing the first weekend in October for all the family, with a special session for the men and young men on Saturday night of that first weekend in October.
Our family loves both of these weekends. What could be better than gathering to feel the Spirit of God together as we learn from living prophets and inspired leaders?
We have special traditions for those weekends which include special foods and activities. When our children were young, I spent time preparing activities that they could do while they learned to listen for 2 hours at a time. Now the church (and lots of other kind people) has prepared activities for children. What a gift to young parents!
