I think I’ll always remember a line from a movie we showed often as missionaries when we were young: “I didn’t get married to get divorced.” (See video below for those who want to time travel to the 1980’s! 😉)
Coming from a broken family, I was really intent on finding out how to marry someone who wanted to have–more than anything else–an eternal family. I believed that my family and family life centered on Jesus Christ would be my greatest source of happiness. Now I know that family life centered on Jesus Christ brings joy, love, and peace and is my greatest source of happiness.
Nearly 27 years into our marriage, I feel grateful every day for my husband, who shares the same desire that I do to have a happy, eternal family.
We have learned that it takes a lot of faith, prayers, and work to move closer and closer to that goal.
