Mmmm…: A la table, tout le monde!
This is one of our family “phraseologies:” it’s what I say often when I’m calling everyone to dinner. (It’s French for “to the table everyone!”)
Now, I love to gather my family for dinner, but I freely admit that preparing dinner is not my favorite thing to do. I’d much rather do many other things, like WRITE! So the kind of recipes I like best for “feed[ing] my sheep” are those that are SIMPLE to make, TASTE GOOD, and are WHOLESOME.
My favorite recipes are the FAST ones.
So, to kick off posting recipes from our family cookbook, I’d like to start with one that is really fast and really good. It’s from a very important category: dessert. And if I’m going to eat dessert, it’s got to taste good. Let’s start with Hot Fudge and Caramel Sauce. Oh yeah.
Last Sunday we had 30-plus people at home for our “cousins” dinner, and we were serving brownie sundaes for dessert. I was out of hot fudge! If I hadn’t already spent about 3 hours preparing the meal I would have whipped it up. That motivated me to make it for our Sunday dessert this week. It takes about 10 minutes to make, including getting the ingredients out.
That’s my kind of recipe!
