Psst! Messages of light
I walked in from an orchestra rehearsal this morning to get started on cleaning up my kitchen. I went online and turned on the Mormon Channel radio livestream. As I began emptying the dishwasher, I listened to a rebroadcast of “Music and the Spoken Word” and heard this great quote from Bruce Hafen:
A child is an echo chamber. If he hears the sounds of love from his mother, he will later speak those same sounds of love to others.
(I searched for this quote and found it online in an incredible speech called “Motherhood and the Moral Influence of Women” given at to The World Congress of Families II, Geneva, Plenary Session IV, November 16, 1999.)
The beautiful song that the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sung after that reminded me of the sweet feelings of love that have come many times during my journey in motherhood, and the sweet gift that it is to be so closely associated with little children and growing children and teenagers and young adults.
Then I pondered how fortunate we are to have great messages full of light that come via service organizations like the Mormon Channel and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir! I have been so blessed, even every Sunday growing up and every Christmas season, by recordings of the “MoTab” (as we called it) of such gorgeous music as “The Messiah” or “Carol of the Bells.” And now I can listen to great Christmas music for free anytime on the Mormon Channel music stream, or I can listen to uplifting messages on the Mormon Channel programmed radio stream. There are no commercials! There are no funding solicitations! It is just a lot of really good messages to help me along my way.
Thank you, Mormon Channel and Mormon Tabernacle Choir! You make my life better!
