SOS: “Eleven, Dude”
One of the reasons I like having scripture study is for those little moments that make it so enjoyable.
I mean, it isn’t always enjoyable every second of every day, but it is regularly very good and sometimes even fun(ny)!
Today, for example, there was a certain young person sleeping next to me. His sister was sitting on his right, and when it was turn for him to read, she elbowed him and prompted, “Eleven, dude!” She handed him an open book, and groggily he mumbled through one verse before dropping his head back down onto a pillow.
I really liked today because Lane suggested yesterday, after general conference was over, that when it is our day to lead (each child has a set day they lead scripture study), that we could do what Elder Andersen suggested and share a scripture we absolutely know is true. So we added that into our little routine, and it was great to hear one of our daughter’s scriptures and accompanying testimony.
Home can be a safe place to be able to share your sacred, tender feelings without worrying so much about what others think. It’s such a nice way to start the day, to hear children reading God’s word and teaching me from their heart.
Happy Waking Up to the Word,
