You Can

For years, I asked other mothers, “How do you do it?” I wanted to know what their secrets were, how they managed to be happy and raise children who were happy and doing good things with their lives.

Now, all of these years later (with many more to come), I have learned that the “secrets” have so much more to do with asking God how to nurture a child and then  learning to listen to the Spirit than with any particular routine that someone has created that works for another mother.

This may seem ironic, considering that my website is just that: full of ideas I have gotten from others and a few ideas I have come up with thanks to Heaven’s help. But I found that sometimes, as I searched for answers and tried to listen to for inspiration, sometimes the answers came from others’ ideas or examples.

I want you to know that God believes in you!  I believe that women who want to are capable of overcoming obstacles and finding answers to the questions that family life and nurturing others present themselves.

YOU CAN DO IT!

Happy Doing It,

Liz 🙂

P.S. How do I know you can do it? Because I have seen how the pattern that God set (faith and small and simple ways) has allowed me to grow, step by incremental step (see Alma 32 and the analogy of a seed). And I have seen that children learn this way, and I have seen adults learn this way, and so I believe that any person who chooses to can learn, step by incremental step. So if you simplify something enough, you can figure out how to do it. And if you figure out how to do something simply, then you can grow in your ability to do it at that level. When you do it wrong, you can repent/adjust. And then you can progress, if you want to, and if you have faith in Christ.

That’s the bottom line. Have faith in Christ, cultivate simplicity, and try to do what He has asked. That’s the recipe for success in nurturing others (and yourself.)

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13

“I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded me, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandment unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them to accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.” 1 Nephi 3:7
